Brittle Paper's 100 Notable African Books of 2023 and my favourite reads of the year
Hello,
2023 ended with a quiet note of contentment and appreciation, and although this wasn’t a target of mine for my debut novel, I am deeply thankful that there were readers who felt The Sun Set In Singapore was one of their favourite reads of the year. This is especially heartwarming because many readers, like me, don’t read a lot of books as soon as they’re published, but select books according to mood, timing and recommendations.

I struggled to read as much as usual in 2023, due to personal and work commitments, which was frustrating - like one of my favourite writers, Zadie Smith, if I had to choose between reading and writing, I would read!
